Xavier Akouri is a character in the The Nine Lives of Chloe King series. He was first introduced in "Pilot", and is played by American actor Jose Brooks.

Xavier was a young adult, who met Chloe in a club a day before her birthday. They danced all night, and towards the end, he asked Chloe if she wanted to go with him to his brother's apartment, a few blocks away. Chloe declined politely, but before leaving, she kissed him and they exchanged cell phone numbers.

Around the same time, Chloe's nature as a Mai began to awaken, leading to Xavier's death thanks to the 'kiss of death'. It is revealed in "Redemption", that his parents believe his drug addict brother Gabriel might have had something to do with his death.

Chloe went to his funeral, and comforted Gabriel, telling him he wasn't guilty of Xavier's death. According to Gabriel, Xavier came to San Francisco with the only purpose of helping Gabriel quit drugs and his drug dealing job.

In the Books[]

Chloe met Xavier at The Bank after she got into a fight with her mother, the same day she fell from the Coit Tower. The two dance for hours, and before she leaves, she kisses him. The Kiss becomes intense to the point where she almost leaves with him to his appartment. A fews days later, she decides to visit him. She finds him on the floor, in a near-death state. Chloe calls 911, but leaves before the paramedics arrive.

In the third book, The Chosen, it turns out that in fact Xavier is alive, and that when he arrived at the hospital, he was in a coma. When he woke up, the doctors told him that he was completely okay, and he was discharged. The same day he woke up, was the day Chloe lost another life by saving a human. This leads to the conclusion that because of the act, the Mai and the human curse was lifted.

Trivia[]

  • He was the first character to die in the show, excluding Chloe, since she later came back to life.
    • It is yet uncertain what really killed him, Scarface or Chloe's kiss due to the ambiguous nature.
